Quiet please! We're delighted to share the news that our global ambassador Andy Murray is now ranked the world's number one tennis player! We want to say a huge congratulations to him for this incredible achievement.

Not only has Andy inspired many tennis fans, he's also helped to raise awareness of our work with wild tigers and encouraged many people to get behind the global goal of doubling wild tiger numbers by 2022.

Earlier this year he met with another well known star at Wimbledon's Centre Court to spread the message that tigers need our help. Andy's message reached over two million people on social media.

DONATE TO DOUBLE TIGERS

Over the last century, wild tiger numbers plummeted by over 95%. Now, for the first time in conservation history, their numbers are increasing.

You can help double the number of tigers in the wild by 2022.

dream team for tigers

Andy Murray is a global ambassador for WWF. Last year he lent his support to the sniffer dog programme in Nepal – which included the training of two Belgian shepherd dogs, named Murray and Sears. Murray and Sears are trained for tracking, so if there is a tiger or rhino killed for example, they can pick up a scent to find the poachers. They go out with an anti-poaching team around Chitwan, and act as a deterrent to poachers.

To date together with Andy, you've helped us to raise over £50,000 for this project. Thank you so much. But we still have more to do if we're to protect this majestic big cat.

Doubling Tigers

There are estimated to be around 3,900 tigers in the wild today, living in isolated forests and grasslands throughout Asia.

Key threats:
• Poaching
• Habitat destruction
• Human-wildlife conflict

We can turn it around:
Tiger numbers have increased from 3,200 in 2010 to around 3,900 today. Please join Andy and help us to double the number wild tigers for future generations. Thank you for your support.
